We were engaged to assist a UK Plc defend itself against allegations of circumventing custom duties in the country of origin which manufactured its products.
Work involved a detailed review of HMRC’s case in order to highlight the inconsistencies and deficiencies. For example, recreating HMRC’s model for the calculation of duties which could be reasonably based on a wide range of conflicting documentation to show the sensitivity of relying on one or another single piece of evidence.
José is due to give evidence to the First Tier Tribunal in early 2026.
